Angola has been inhabited by humans since the Paleolithic Age…. but it has not advanced much since. Porto do Namibia is a destination where we can proudly say we’ve earned bragging rights by visiting. There are a lot of warnings of visiting Angola, stemming from a devastating civil war started in 1975 and lasting until 2002. Although we found the people friendly, you could not help but see the toll it has taken, their faces rarely smiling and projects started that were never finished–– the results of stripping a person of their creativity and ambition. There still remains a lot of corruption that the current government is trying to tackle.
I hope these images portray the inner beauty this country has to offer. I’m pulling for them. All the paint and canvas are already here. They just need brushes and be allowed to create and rewarded for their hard work.

Speaking of dressing things up!
